Restaurants in the Tržič region

Fancy eating out? Here are some great places that we highly recommend.

Pizzeria Pod Gradom – Tržič

This is where you’ll find the best pizza in the region. Plenty of choice and deliciously crispy crust. In summer, you can eat outside on the terrace. They do deliver, but we prefer the pizza straight from the kitchen.

Restaurant Firbc Okn (‘Fir Bitsj Okken’)

This restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes. Steak, pork tenderloin, schnitzels, čevapčiči and generously topped burgers. You’ll also find pasta, risotto and steak tartare on the menu. An extensive menu with tasty dishes. They serve pizza too, but we reckon Pod Gradom does it better. Comeback Burger

The best hamburger is at Comeback Burger. This food truck has a permanent spot in a small park in Tržič. When the weather’s nice you can sit outdoors for a tasty burger or a generous meal salad.

Delivery is also possible. They’ll happily bring your burger(s) to Podljubelj as well.

Smuk

Traditional food in an old farmhouse? Pull up a seat at Smuk. It might take a little searching, as it’s out of the way, but it’s a truly authentic experience.

There’s plenty of choice on the menu. Not haute cuisine, but lovely Slovenian classics.

Restaurant Karavla

Near the Austrian border you’ll find this restaurant, set right in the midst of nature. It’s by the road, beside the memorial of a former concentration camp.

Karavla offers a traditional Slovenian menu with simple dishes. In summer you can sit outside in the sunshine, otherwise the cosy log cabin is a great option.
