Zelenci Nature Reserve
If you’re travelling to Slovenia, of course you’ll want to see Lake Bled. But our favourite little lake is right near the Italian border. Lake Zelenci!
The most beautiful lake in Slovenia
This small lake is hidden in a forest beside the main road. The lake has crystal-clear water and is surrounded by stunning nature. The lake is actually a genuine spring. You can see the water bubbling up from the bottom. Because the water is so clear, you can watch the fish swimming right in front of you.
The lake in this small Zelenci nature reserve is truly a gem. The azure-blue water with the mountain peaks in the background gives you a unique impression. Next to the lake you’ll find a lookout tower you can climb for a good view over the water. We didn’t find the climb itself all that spectacular.
The lake is not large, but it offers a magical experience. Come early in the morning for a serene start to your day.
The lake is just a few minutes’ walk from the car park, where you can also enjoy a freshly brewed coffee at a good price or have a Slovenian lunch with Ćevapčići.
Here you’ll find the car park by Gostilna Zelenci. Note, there’s a new car park across the road. Handy if you’re coming from the direction of Kranjska Gora.
