Dovžan Gorge

North of the town of Tržič you’ll find a beautiful route between the mountain walls. The Dovžan Gorge is crossed by a public road. You won’t need to buy a ticket for entry. It’s a beautiful place for a hike.

Floods in 2023 caused damage to the route. This reveals the force of the water in the otherwise idyllic Tržič Bistrica river.

The Soča Gorge (Velika Korita Soča)

The Soča River runs along the road from the Vršič Pass towards Bovec. Midway, the river rushes through a gorge many metres deep. From several bridges by the roadside, you can watch the crystal blue water tumble through the ravine.

A little further on, the gorge widens into a gentle river where you can swim. The end of the narrow gorge offers a beautiful rock formation, from which daredevils take the plunge.

Here you’ll find a car park (paid) at the spot where you can swim. From there, you can also walk back along the gorge.
