Lake Krsnko

Krsnko Jezero is a stunning mountain lake. It lies in the heart of Triglav National Park, near Kobarid. This lake can only be reached by a demanding mountain hike starting from an altitude of 700 metres. The walking route begins in Lepena, at the mountain hut Dom dr. Klementa Juga. That’s where the tarmac road ends going up.

The walk is a serious climb and is only recommended for experienced mountain hikers. You go up around 700 metres during the ascent. It’s best to start early in the day. The trip up takes around 2 hours (one way).

Slovenia’s highest lake

The Krsnko lake is 1,400 metres above sea level. It is the largest alpine lake in Slovenia. You will enjoy magnificent views of the mountains all around.

You can also climb to the summit of Mount ‘Krn’ from the lake. This takes about 3 hours one way.
