Postojna caves
Slovenia also offers stunning natural wonders underground. The Postojna Caves are a cave system of unprecedented scale. Prepare yourself for an unforgettable adventure as you explore the mysterious tunnels, dripstone formations, and hidden chambers of these breathtaking caves.
Guided tour through the caves
Step into the magical underground world of the Postojna caves. Every hour, a new discovery tour begins. On a 90-minute journey, a knowledgeable guide will lead you to the most fascinating spots inside the caves.

Discover the largest caves in the world
Your trip begins on a train that takes you through the first 3 kilometres of the caves. Then, you’ll walk another one-and-a-half kilometres past remarkable stalagmites, stalactites and unique rock formations
The Postojna cave system stretches over 24 kilometres and is one of the largest in the world. A part of this vast space is accessible to visitors. During the guided tour, you’ll encounter some remarkable dripstone formations. The Brilliant: a five-metre-tall stalagmite symbolising the caves. The Skyscraper: a sixteen-metre-high stalagmite that’s centuries old.

Can you spot the white baby dragon?
In the display case at the end of the tour, you’ll find the cave olm, also known as the ‘baby dragon’. It’s a rare species of salamander that lives only in darkness. This white creature lives in the Postojna caves.
Additional exhibitions
At the Postojna Cave Park, you can also buy tickets for other exhibitions. There is a permanent exhibition on cave creatures and another about butterflies. You can buy a combination ticket for these at a low price. In hindsight, we thought it was a waste of money. However, it could be a useful way to pass the time if you have to wait for your booked tour.
To see the special creature ‘the cave olm’, you don’t need a separate ticket. There’s a sort of terrarium at the end of the cave tour where you can see it.
